The pre-orders for the edition went live yesterday but faced an unfortunate fate. Now, according to the latest reports, the Special Edition has been pulled off the ‘My Nintendo Store’ to be released on a later date.

Apparently, the fan response was overbearingly positive leading to a ‘My Nintendo Store’ breakdown. Many fans weren’t able to purchase the edition because the store didn’t even load up. Those who got the chance to get their hands on the edition were incredibly lucky!

Nintendo tried fixing the issue and had asked fans to bear for some time as they looked for a solution. “The My Nintendo Store is experiencing a high volume of traffic and we appreciate your patience while we look into the issue.” their tweet read.

Nintendo takes down Xenoblade Chronicles 3’s premium edition

The special edition was taken down after its popularity managed to break the store. The sudden traffic affected the entire store, including physical products. The My Nintendo Store still seems to be recovering from the humongous traffic aftermath.

In fact, the Xenoblade Chronicles 3 special edition will now be available at a later date, following yesterday’s events.

Most of the popularity happens to revolve around the art book that the special edition includes. As it happens, it’s a rare collectible and such items are often a scalper’s point of exploit. In fact, many fans have even spotted scalpers already taking advantage.

The artbook reportedly features 250+ pages of original Xenoblade Chronicles “waifu” artwork in full color, which makes it an extremely valuable collectible for original fans of the anime.

Fans aren’t happy with Nintendo’s execution

Now that reports of scalpers taking advantage have surfaced, fans cannot help but blamed Nintendo for its poor execution of the event. In fact, some fans waited for the entire day to grab their copy.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3, a Nintendo Switch exclusive, releases on July 29, 2022, five years after Xenoblade Chronicles 2.

Although they have pulled off the special edition from the store, pre-orders for the base game are still open. However, owing to yesterday’s situation, users may still face unexpected hiccups during the process, as per Nintendo.

Well, we all feel that the Japanese console and software giant could have done better.
