The pre-orders for the edition went live yesterday but faced an unfortunate fate. Now, according to the latest reports, the Special Edition has been pulled off the ‘My Nintendo Store’ to be released on a later date.
Apparently, the fan response was overbearingly positive leading to a ‘My Nintendo Store’ breakdown. Many fans weren’t able to purchase the edition because the store didn’t even load up. Those who got the chance to get their hands on the edition were incredibly lucky!
Pre-purchase for the #XenobladeChronicles3 Special Edition, launching exclusively on the My Nintendo Store, will begin tomorrow. The Special Edition will be limited to 2 per account.

Nintendo tried fixing the issue and had asked fans to bear for some time as they looked for a solution. “The My Nintendo Store is experiencing a high volume of traffic and we appreciate your patience while we look into the issue.” their tweet read.
Nintendo takes down Xenoblade Chronicles 3’s premium edition
The special edition was taken down after its popularity managed to break the store. The sudden traffic affected the entire store, including physical products. The My Nintendo Store still seems to be recovering from the humongous traffic aftermath.
In fact, the Xenoblade Chronicles 3 special edition will now be available at a later date, following yesterday’s events.
You may also experience an issue when purchasing physical products on My Nintendo Store at this time. We are working to resolve this as soon as possible. Thank you for your understanding.

Most of the popularity happens to revolve around the art book that the special edition includes. As it happens, it’s a rare collectible and such items are often a scalper’s point of exploit. In fact, many fans have even spotted scalpers already taking advantage.

Scalpers still were able to get them and put them up for sale on ebay. What does Nintendo plan to do about that?

The artbook reportedly features 250+ pages of original Xenoblade Chronicles “waifu” artwork in full color, which makes it an extremely valuable collectible for original fans of the anime.
Fans aren’t happy with Nintendo’s execution
Now that reports of scalpers taking advantage have surfaced, fans cannot help but blamed Nintendo for its poor execution of the event. In fact, some fans waited for the entire day to grab their copy.
Try another day?. I understand that there were problems but I spent 11 hours trying to get a pre order in worhout an update. (Like many other people) and there are people already scalping these.. I just wanted one for myself. NoA, please do better.. This is a huge disappointment

Although they have pulled off the special edition from the store, pre-orders for the base game are still open. However, owing to yesterday’s situation, users may still face unexpected hiccups during the process, as per Nintendo.
It's almost 0100 PST. Why is this still down? What is going on? Pretty abysmal for $57B company… Much like ERCOT, you failed spectacular to prepare accordingly. pic.twitter.com/dN9d0akG0U

Just because they're a billion dollar company, doesn't mean that they're perfect. Today was terrible and I hope they rethink how they handle these pre-orders for next time.
However, you act like because they're a billion dollar company, they should've been immune from mistakes.

Well, we all feel that the Japanese console and software giant could have done better.
Hey Nintendo… GET BETTER SERVERS

Absolutely brutal response. I have been following this all day.
You really need to re-think how you do these releases. Give everyone an opportunity to buy it for a period of time and determine production levels after a month preorder window so that all have a chance.

from carrying your products is atrocious and is an obviously greedy tactic. Now your shoddy communication will keep us guessing on when we'll even have the chance to fight more scalpers and errors. Thanks for nothing Nintendo.
