In a recent interview, fans could see how Booysen had gone about creating her debut book ‘The Marked Children’. MrBeast’s better half gave an insight into her journey as an author, and it is quite remarkable.

MrBeast loves making content videos for his fans. This desire has been there in him since his early days on YouTube. Interestingly, Thea Booysen also had a passion for content. Not one similar to MrBeast and his videos, but towards narrative construction. From her school days, Thea had a flair for writing, and moreover, she began her book around that time.

“It took me around 7 years to finish it,” stated Thea. She undertook two degrees in that time period, thus taking time away from finishing her book. She added that as time progressed she gained more knowledge from the field of Law and Psychology (through her two degrees) and that was reflected in her story.

That is, she revised her narrative and restructured and rewrote it as her vocabulary and insights increased. Thea has given her heart and soul to the narrative. It seems like both Thea and MrBeast share that flair of dedication that pushes them to make their dreams a reality.

Coming back to the book, it’s a fictitious narrative. Ironically, it is set in South Africa, Thea’s native lands, though the story doesn’t directly point towards that aspect. The Marked Children takes shape through the lens of John, who is the protagonist. The sudden disappearances of children around the world have gone unanswered, and one day suddenly John wakes up with a mark on his arm, indicating he is next in line for abduction.

The narrative takes an interplanetary jump and goes through a ‘Lord of the Flies‘ style to form the rest of the narrative. During the interview, when asked about this monumental milestone, Thea had a strong message for all aspiring writers.

“It is not supposed to be easy. Every writer out there, Stephen King, J.K. Rowling, they all say that they struggled immensely to publish their first book,” stated Thea Booysen. She was motivating aspiring writers to not give up hope and dropped some pointers on how one can improve as a writer.
