YouTube has seen some of the internet’s wildest sensations first pop off on its platform. But when it comes to popping off, few have done it quite like MrBeast. Jimmy ‘MrBeast’ Donaldson is a name that has become synonymous with success. Case in point, he topped Forbes’s list of highest earning YouTube stars of 2021. Jimmy had to suffer many hardships in his journey to become one of the biggest YouTubers on the planet. He recently shared an experience which he considers to be the “worst thing ever”.
MrBeast recounts one of his worst experiences to Joe Rogan
In a testament to his fame and success, Jimmy recently appeared on The Joe Rogan Experience #1788. The exciting episode saw the duo touch upon some intriguing topics. But one segment was especially enlightening for fans of the creator. It details his life before he found such rampant stardom. And safe to say, he isn’t a fan of this period.
Jimmy explains that his YouTube journey was rife with challenges. And one of the biggest ones was his financial status. Despite being devoted to his craft, MrBeast didn’t have a very lucrative revenue stream until 18 years of age. This was problematic, as Jimmy hated school. And he was betting heavily on earning enough from YouTube by the end of high school to make it a viable career option.
Sadly, this wasn’t the case. After Donaldson’s graduation, his mother presented him with two choices: move out, or go to community college.

“…she forced me to go to community college. And that was, that was the worst thing ever,” he said. “Like that, that made me hate life. Like borderline suicidal.”

However, MrBeast chose Option C. Which was going to community college and attending no classes, instead choosing to work on YouTube videos in his car. This prompts a hearty chuckle from Joe, who addresses his risky gamble.
“Were you aware of that, like, you’re running a risk?“
And Jimmy did. But he was out of options. He didn’t wish to attend college, and so staked it all on his gamble.
“I was like, I’m f**ked if this doesn’t work.“
