The mammoth deal between Microsoft and the Call of Duty publisher is complete now. After a long wait, the Xbox maker has acquired Activision Blizzard. Following the merger, however, a burning question has been doing the rounds on the internet: who will be the new Activision CEO after Bobby Kotick? Well, it seems like a fitting candidate’s name has been revealed already!

Going by an industry expert’s prediction, someone from the Xbox camp will likely be the next boss. The person is a well-known and most recognizable face after Phil Spencer. The prediction also suggests that Microsoft could appoint this Xbox exec as the new chief of Call of Duty’s publisher sooner than later.

Joost van Dreunen is an investor and strategic advisor to many firms involved in the gaming industry. He also runs a newsletter where he shares crucial information regarding many renowned companies. In one of his latest newsletters, Mr. Dreunen ended up making a big prediction over the role of CEO for Activision after Bobby Kotick.

While answering the question of ‘who’, the investor wrote that “in the next few weeks Microsoft is going to promote Sarah Bond, currently corporate VP at Xbox and perhaps the most visible exec after Spencer, to the position of CEO for its new subsidiary. If they’re not, they should.”

He emphasized on the name of Sarah Bond as he thinks she’s the best person for the role right now. Phil Spencer is already leading the Xbox department while Matt Booty is head of Xbox Game Studios. Thus, it only makes sense for Sarah Bond to be appointed as the Activision CEO, according to Joost van Dreunen.

What’s next for COD at Microsoft?

Meanwhile, fans of Call of Duty are looking forward to what happens to their beloved FPS IP in the future. After the deal, many people have speculated that Microsoft will possibly make the series Xbox exclusive. But given the fact Phil Spencer has already dismissed such rumors, such a scenario seems unlikely to happen. And of course, there’s also a matter of the 10 year deal to keep CoD on PlayStation.

One can expect Microsoft to offer CoD games on more platforms now. Thanks to the deal with Sony and Nintendo, future installments from Activision will continue to be available on PlayStation while arriving on Nintendo’s handheld devices too. Cloud gaming is also another method by which more gamers will get to experience the action-packed franchise.
