The Kameo Fighter system appears to resemble the mechanics found in games like Marvel vs. Capcom, where players can summon NPC allies for assistance. NeatherRealm’s Chief Creative Officer and Co-founder of Mortal Kombat, Ed Boon, confirmed that this mechanic would be showcased soon, although no further updates have been provided by Ed at this time.

However, the press release also revealed the Premium and Kollector’s Edition versions of MK 1. As part of the bonuses included in these editions, players will receive five new Kameo Fighters as post-launch content. This indicates that alongside expanding the playable roster, NeatherRealm has plans to introduce new Kameo Fighters as downloadable content (DLC) as well.
