When NetherRealm Studios dropped the extended gameplay reveal of their much-awaited title, Mortal Kombat 1, it sent a shockwave through the community. The studio has brought in much-more gore filled fatalities with some action-packed fighting scenes. The biggest selling point, however, is the complete overhaul of the timeline.
The new timeline has Liu Kang serving as its god. Naturally, fans would be curious to know which characters made it to the new timeline created by Kang. In some recent rumors, a list of characters coming to the reboot was revealed.

A new leaker named InsiderMK revealed a list of 25 characters to the fans. However, a trusted leaker, R0000r, came forward to correct this list. The leaker shortened the list shared earlier and confirmed 19 characters coming to the title in a Reddit post.

Fans would be elated to find out classic characters like Raiden and Shang Tsung coming to the reboot. However, the leaker also confirmed that characters like Cyrax, Jade, Female Nightwolf, and Sektor won’t be coming to the new titles. In addition, the leaker also revealed that there won’t be any new characters in the game.

Mortal Kombat creator Ed Boon also shared about the future of characters in the reboot at the Summer Game Fest 2023. Boon told, “This is the beginning of a new timeline. A number of these characters you have seen before but they are told in a completely different story”.
He also said characters will be available in Kameo Fighters. The characters used in Kameo Fighters will be a nod to the earlier characters in the series. Whatever may be the ensemble of characters comes to the reboot, one thing is for sure, the game is on its way to being a big hit. Mortal Kombat 1 arrives for fans on September 19.
