MLB The Show was a PlayStation exclusive since the franchise’s first release back in 2006. The game recreates Major League Baseball. Developed by San Diego Studio (Sony Interactive Entertainment America) and published by MLB and Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) is the pride of American baseball online. For years, Xbox users have been envious of the PS exclusive Baseball league game. However, Xbox leaves no stones unturned for its customers.
Recently, MLB: The Show 21 announced that the game will have a surprising Day One release on Xbox Game Pass. It is not impossible, but very rare to see a Sony developed the game on the Microsoft console. Although Sony had an upper hand in the game’s development and production, it seems like Xbox got the best out of it.

Xbox Game Pass subscribers get Sony-Developed MLB: The Show 21 for free
Video game analysts on multiple occasions have suggested Sony follow Microsoft’s initiative of subscription service. Game Pass Subscription Service is better and more profitable than most other services, as stated frequently by Microsoft representatives. However, Sony has shown no intention of following the path of subscription service.

Unfortunately, Xbox’s latest venture into the Sony exclusive market does not look dazzling for PlayStation users. Xbox’s latest deal gives access to MLB: The Show 21 to Xbox Game Pass subscribers for free on Day 1 of launch. Ironically, Sony’s PlayStation users have to buy the game from retailers, paying the full price.
MLB: The Show 21 costs £59.99/$69.99 on PS5 and £49.99/$59.99 on PS4. It will release on April 20, 2021. For the ones who pre-ordered, the game will be available from April 16, 2021. The franchise’s latest title will be cross-platform play and progress. That means players from both consoles can compete against each other and save progress while switching platforms.

The Game Pass Ultimate launch will allow xCloud members to access the game even on their Android smartphones. PlayStation has still not announced any news about the availability of the game on PlayStation Now. Grabbing a popular game that has been a PlayStation exclusive for years undoubtedly overwhelmed Xbox fans. On the other hand, PlayStation fans are questioning the studio’s motive behind the deal that looks like a setback for the PS users.
