Microsoft has finally given its statements on the ongoing emulator situation with Nintendo. This situation arose when many fans started reporting failure to launch their third-party emulators on the Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One consoles.
Emulators are software applications that enable users to play games from other consoles and systems on their computer or console. Consumers realized that the emulators they downloaded no longer worked on Xbox.

The ban on third-party emulators surprised many players. While players pondered the reason for the ban, an email raised more questions. One Microsoft employee, who works at Xbox QA, sent this email to another Microsoft employee in the Azure department.
While no one saw the actual email, one employee shared the contents of the email on Twitter. This email mentioned Nintendo as one of the reasons for the closure of Xbox console emulators. Furthermore, Nintendo is notorious for going after emulation over the years. Emulators players were quick to put one-and-one together to shift the blame on Nintendo for this ban.
“The information currently circulating on Twitter is not accurate,” Microsoft shared a statement with IGN recently. “Our actions are based on a longstanding policy on content distributed to the Store to ensure alignment with our Microsoft Store Policies. Per 10.13.10, products that emulate a game system or game platform are not allowed on any device family.”
This statement has excluded the Japanese company from being the reason for the ban. But still, fans are thinking Nintendo has had a hand in this looking at their history.

Nintendo recently banned PointCrow’s popular Breath of the Wild creator’s videos. Following the Nintendo ban, he was not permitted to monetize his videos. This frequent banning from the Japanese company has sparked a different way of protest from creators. Creators are now creating content that is sure to be banned by Nintendo. And then doing it again just to mess with the Japanese company.
A group of Super Mario Maker 2 designers called The Banned Wagon is doing just that. They purposely created a world called the Super Wagon World. This world had one task, to make a Nintendo ban speedrun. And they achieved the task in three days. Nintendo removed this world for the reason of having “a bug”.
