Custom and unique accessories have become the norm in gaming nowadays. Pretty much every platform owner releases a bunch of new pieces of hardware for their fans. Sometimes they are based on upcoming new games, like PlayStation 5’s latest Spider-Man 2 Dualsense controller. Other times, it’s just a new color. Besides Sony PlayStation, Microsoft does a similar thing.
Microsoft very recently launched its Starfield Edition Xbox gamepad, which was a huge success. And now, to top it up, they are following it up with a brand new controller. And without a doubt, this new controller is something special.

Following such success can be hard, but it looks like Microsoft knows exactly how to do that. They have already announced a new controller with a brand-new color. They have named it Gold Shadow Special Edition, and it is indeed that: a dark golden gamepad.
Microsoft Xbox’s official website says, “From the shadows, the Xbox Wireless Controller: Gold Shadow Special Edition is making its grand debut in the spotlight. A homage to Xbox One’s fan-favorite Shadow series designs, this controller sports a sophisticated gold-to-black metallic finish on the top case. Aside from the top case and D-Pad, the rest of the controller is draped in carbon black, allowing the gold elements to shine.”

It’s pretty clear that Microsoft is selling this new color as a style statement. And of course, it makes a statement; it looks so good that it makes us wonder if anyone would even use it. People often keep these kinds of controllers in a glass showcase in a collectibles corner.
What of the Forza Motorsport edition, though?
While this golden color is pretty premium indeed, there were previously rumors of a controller based on Forza Motorsport. We have yet to see any such controller being announced by Microsoft, even though the launch date for Forza Motorsport keeps drawing closer by the day.
