Sony PlayStation recently announced its merger with Bunge Studios. Moving on from that, the video game fans are now waiting for another massive merger that is said to be between Microsoft and Activision Blizzard.

The American technology company already acquired Bethesda last year, and then they eyed Activision Blizzard. The hugely familiar name is an American video game company that has created successful series like Call of Duty, Diablo, and Overwatch. Multiple rumors suggest that Microsoft bid $68 billion for this deal to acquire Activision Blizzard.

Microsoft can acquire Activision Blizard by August 2022

Microsoft has recently submitted the additional data for the completion of this mega deal to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). However, the American multinational tech company now has to wait for authorization from the FTC.

The agency usually takes a 30 days time period to evaluate the data. So, if the Federal Trade Commission doesn’t ask for any further data and shows the green light, Microsoft can complete its acquisition of Activision Blizzard by mid-August.

But if additional data is asked, the parties would have to push the finalizing date further. Although, both the companies would be working really hard to finish it by next month and move forward with a new venture.

What advantage would Xbox have from this deal?

It would be an excellent deal for Microsoft, even better than the Bethesda deal. Activision Blizzard has some of the best video game franchises in history. So, the acquisition of the Santa Monica-based company will help Microsoft boost its gaming department immensely.

There is a possibility that game series like Call of Duty and Diablo will become Xbox exclusives in the future. If not exclusive, Microsoft might add these mind-blowing games to the Xbox Game Pass. Undoubtedly, a game pass featuring titles like Call of Duty and Diablo would attract more fans’ attention.

This move will definitely help Xbox to compete against PlayStation. In recent years, Xbox was falling short of the competition that PlayStation had to offer. So, this deal is going to be a game-changer for Microsoft.
