Talking to Variety in an exclusive interaction (given to a media outlet in a decade), Mr. Kotick mentioned various points regarding Activision’s partnership with the Xbox maker. He revealed his liking for the company, especially Phil Spencer who’s the head of gaming at Microsoft. He said he really likes the way they operate and the overall work culture itself. “I think Microsoft is by far the best place for us to be,” he said.
Interestingly, he also mentioned that the Call of Duty publisher can successfully operate on its own, even if the deal doesn’t happen. But he wants the proposed acquisition to get approved.
Giving his reason, he said: “We have an enormous amount of momentum, and we have an extraordinary balance sheet. And we can continue to be successful alone like we have been for the last 30 years. But it’ll be great if the deal goes through because I think it’s the right thing for our industry.”
