On December 14, 2022, CD Projekt RED’s phenomenal game Witcher 3: Wild Hunt received a free next-gen upgrade for PS5 and Xbox X/S consoles. But even on its launch day, the beloved game become the catalyst of a full-fledged war between fans of PlayStation and Xbox.
PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X/S: Fans have their say on which console is the best for Witcher 3
The arguments between Xbox and PlayStation heated Twitter. They shared screenshots of the graphics quality and performance of the game on both consoles, which led to comparisons and ultimately arguments and quarrels about which version is the superior one.
Twitter user Nicola pointed out that the “performance mode” of Witcher 3 looks and performs better on PlayStation than on Xbox. He posted with a sly dig, “It appears 150 Sony employees also helped CDproject on the Next-Gen update for The Witcher 3.” Nicola shared some screenshots to solidify his claims:-

His tweet sparked a huge argument as the Xbox fans raged on the matter. Michael Crow accused Nicola that they are, “cherry picking” and posted some screenshots of his own showcasing that “Ray Tracing” is better on Xbox than PlayStation.
But Crow’s angle was rivaled by Cunning_Panda who said, “Looking at those screens, they aren’t the same unless each one is slightly cropped, these are cherry picked too. They have to match. For instance, the left middle screen is mostly showing a wall (high fps), the left and right of it are showing more of the town at a distance.”
yeah cherry picking again i see pic.twitter.com/APVHdrmVsX

And the same went on. Fans of both consoles kept on fighting to prove that their console is the better one for the game. But there were some fans who didn’t belong in any of these two groups and supported that PC is the platform for the game.

But even they were shut down hilariously…
Congrats on paying an extra thousand dollars for it to look just a little bit better. You sure showed us!

And finally, there was a group of fans who just hated this childish argument over which console is best or which version of the game looks the better. They harshly criticized both groups and expressed that quarreling over pixels is senseless.
I honestly don’t see how anyone has the energy for this endless Xbox vs PS5 debate anymore…

Especially when the end result is counting pixels on a still image. Just play the damn game, it's gonna look decent at worst regardless on where you play it.

I'm under the mindset of "just play what you want on what you want." Cant everyone just shut the fuck up and have a good time?
