Massive Update on the Next Sonic the Hedgehog Movie Puts Eager Fans on Edge

Videogames had made a huge impact on the film industry for many years now. With films like Uncharted, Resident Evil, etc. cinema has always tried to bring fictional video game characters to life. Sonic the Hedgehog is one such game that had inspired not just one but now three films.

Sonic the Hedgehog was one of the most sold video games for Sega Genesis. With its unique gameplay and concept, the game took the world by storm. This success was so much that Hollywood finally decided to make a film about it in 2020. Now, the film is going to see its 3rd installment soon.

Sonic the Hedgehog is coming back to the theatres!

On February 14th, 2020, when Sonic the Hedgehog movie was released in cinemas, it became the 6th highest-grossing film of the year worldwide. With brilliant actors like Jim Carrey and James Marsden, the film earned around $319.7 million worldwide.

Now in 2022, after the massive success of Sonic the Hedgehog 2, its official Twitter handle has announced that the 3rd installment will be released on 20th December 2024. After this, fans flooded the comments section with various predictions.

Some fans commented that they are very excited about the film and its potential for the future. Notably, many fans were hyped to see Shadow in the post-credit scene of the 2nd installment of the film. This made fans very happy when the announcement for the 3rd film was made as in this film they can see Shadow the Hedgehog as the main side-kick to Dr. Robotnik.

Although many fans are waiting for Shadow, some are eager to see Amy in the 3rd film. As she is one of the prominent characters in the Sonic games and previous incarnations of Sonic installments. Thus, it will be interesting to see how the film will introduce Amy to fans.

Why is Shadow the Hedgehog so hyped?

In the original Sonic Adventure 2 game, Shadow the hedgehog was shown as the main threat to Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles the Echidna. It was the last Sonic game to come out on Dreamcast after SEGA left the home console market.

Apart from this the storyline for the game was also very appreciated by critics. As it showed why Dr. Robotnik had so many evil schemes to kidnap Sonic and use his powers. Many fans also think that this can be the basic premise for Sonic the Hedgehog 3 too.
