A recent report from Mainichi Shinbun revealed some information from a Japanese Cabinet Officer on Japan’s GDP. The figures brought up a spike in Japan’s semi-durable goods sales — which include clothes, entertainment, and video games.

And included in this segment is Nintendo’s latest Zelda title. Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has proven to be a cash cow for Nintendo as it has brought it millions of dollars of profit for the gaming company.

The report covered the sales between April and June, in between which the latest Zelda title was released. This quarter showed a massive spike of 2.8% in growth in Japan’s semi-durable goods sales compared to last quarter.

Furthermore, the Japanese Cabinet Officer also believed this growth in semi-durable goods was mostly thanks to video games. While he did not explicitly name Tears of the Kingdom, fans are believing this title to be the reason for the spike.
