Let’s find out what you can do in this game and what the fans have to say about this latest release.
Mario Strikers: Battle League is a stripped-down attempt for Nintendo to bring soccer games to the fans
Mario Strikers is a simplified version of traditional soccer. Matches are five against five and the field is significantly smaller, more akin to a basketball court than a soccer pitch. (On the pitch, you can manage four players, but AI always handled the goalies.)
Matches typically last four minutes and cannot conclude in a tie; if this occurs, the game switches to a “golden goal” mode, in which the first goal wins.
Mario Strikers is also a lot grimmer than genuine soccer. You can not only blow up or knock out your opponents with a red shell, but there are no fouls in the game, so you may tackle them without fear of consequences. There aren’t many restrictions at all, so don’t expect to see soccer staples like corner kicks or penalties. Some of the characters even interact with their hands.

Hyperstrike is one of the game’s biggest features; after collecting the correct item, a player may fire a special charged shot that counts for two goals if it goes in. These are difficult to pull off — you must charge up without being tackled and complete a timed challenge in order to score — but they may drastically alter the nature of a game.
