Mario Kart Deluxe 8 Recent Update Amuses Nintendo Fans With Brand New Characters and Meta Change

It’s been over five years since Mario Kart 8 Deluxe was released. Despite its age, it remains the highest-selling game ever released on Nintendo Switch, selling over 52 million copies of the game. The reason for this is possible because the game still has a lot to offer to its fans.

The Mario Kart 8 Deluxe recently released Update 2.3.0, which introduced the fourth wave of Booster Course Pass DLC. But what makes this update unique is that it almost completely revamped the karting game. There is a lot for the fans to enjoy, from new characters to new meta in it.

New characters in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

The most noticeable feature of the new Update 2.3.0 was the return of Birdo in this karting world. This Nintendo character was first introduced in the Mario Kart series in the 2003-released game Double Dash as Yoshi’s partner.

Birdo’s last appearance in the Mario Kart series was for the mobile game, Mario Kart Tour. But as for console appearance, it has been nearly over a decade since she was a playable character in Mario Kart Wii.

But it seems Nintendo is not just stopping at Birdo’s release. Many fans have spotted an addition of giving empty spots to the character selection page. It hints at the Japanese giants are going to introduce many more new characters in the upcoming updates. It would be interesting to see if it would be a  Mario character or one from another Nintendo game.

New update 2.3.0 got a new meta

The most recent update introduced not just fresh updates but also a new meta. For a long time, Waluigi on a Wiggler was the best combo. Many Mario Kart players set various records, but there is a new meta in town that has shaken the Mario Kart community.

After the update 2.3.0, Rosalina riding the Teddy Buggy has become the most effective tactic in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Players have already broken many records using this new combination. This happened because of the new patches. All heavy characters had an increased speed stat, while lighter characters had their mini turbo stat increased. Moreover, most vehicles had a 0.25 increment in the mini turbo stat.
