People’s favorite Mario is famous as the official mascot of popular game-developing giant Nintendo. This video game character was created by Shigeru Miyamoto with Charles Martinet being its voice. Mario’s history involved its debut game arcade one, which was released in 1981. Following the immense popularity of the character, Mario completed its 40th anniversary in the industry this year.

He spoke about how Mario appeared cooler than a cute character to him- “When junior staff join and are are asked to make music, at first everyone’s image is ‘Mario is cute’… Every time I tell them that is not the case. I say ‘Mario is not cute’, ‘Mario is cool’, ‘please make cool music'”

On one hand, people praised Kondo for his efforts on the Mario project- “Still hard to wrap my head around the fact that before age 25, Kondo wrote the themes for both the Mario & Zelda franchises. Most composers don’t achieve such notoriety for a single game in their careers, & here this guy wrote 2 of the most recognizable songs ever created.”
