In case anyone missed keeping track of events, Sledgehammer had shown raw footage from MWIII during Gamescom last month. It featured an opening mission, titled Operation 627. It had an elite fireteam performing a raid in the Zordaya Prison Complex, using amphibious strategies in the night. The objective was to extract a mysterious person. But the Campaign footage ended before actually revealing who was going to be rescued.
Thanks to the information unleashed by the Korean ratings board, however, now we know about the mysterious character. Well, it’s going to be none other than Makarov, according to a potential spoiler.

Simply put, Operation 627 will be about helping Makarov to escape from prison. At least that’s what one can interpret from the aforementioned tweet.
This may or may not be true, however, considering the initial reveal trailer for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III. The trailer showed antagonist Makarov inside a prison. But there are other speculations as well, floating online related to Operation 627. They suggest that the mission may involve freeing Captain Price, due to its connection to an old quest in the franchise, related to the character. In 2009’s Modern Warfare 2 Campaign, there was a mission called The Gulag. It focused on rescuing Price who was called prisoner 627.
