Luminosity Gaming, the team which is currently showing massive promise in the on-going VCT Stage 2 Challengers in the NA region, is apparently exiting Valorant. A recent tweet from the official profile of Luminosity Gaming suggests that the organization is not going to participate in any Valorant-related events in the anticipated future.
Owing to this decision, the organization is planning to let go of the Valorant team that is presently participating in the VCT Stage. But that’s not until the championship ends for them. The team will be continuing under the name of Luminosity till the end of VCT Challengers Stage 2, according to the official announcement.

Luminosity Gaming hasn’t been much of a big name in Valorant Esports. However, their recent performance in the VCT Challengers Stage 2 was stellar and caught a lot of fans’ attention. Moreover, the new team gained unprecedented synergy over the past few months and even managed to take down fan-favorite teams like the Sentinels in the on-going tournament.

Apart from the headline, the organization also made it clear that they’ll be helping the team find a new home. “We are thankful to the team for their continued efforts to improve their craft and feel that this effort is very visible within their recent results. Moving forward, we aim to find a new home for our talented roster in which they can continue to compete together for many years to come.” the statement further read.
Why did Luminosity Gaming exit Valorant?
There are several speculations revolving around this piece of development in the Valorant Esports scene. However, many are convinced that it has something to do with Luminosity’s parent organization, Enthusiast Gaming’s financial and reputational state.
On the other hand, some are blaming the Riot’s upcoming partnership structure. The official statement mentioned that the organization is looking forward to ‘Riot’s upcoming structure in 2023’. Moreover, the surprising decision on Luminosity’s part has sprung up days after Riot announced the franchising structure for 2023.

The statement also clears the air regarding the future of Luminosity in Valorant. “Exiting Valorant is not an easy decision for us, we look forward to Riot’s upcoming structure for 2023 and we do not rule out the opportunity to participate in Valorant esports again down the road.” Luminosity revealed.
Luminosity Gaming is currently carrying a score of 2-1 in the ongoing NA VCT Challengers Stage 2. According to the schedule, the team’s next match will be against NRG on June 5, 4 P.M PT in Week 4 of the NA Challengers.
What about the Luminosity’s members?
Luminosity’s current roster hosts five extremely promising talents, namely moose, dazzle, TiGG, mada, and bdog. Upon Luminosity’s announcement, the players individually posted about their availability as restricted free agents. Moreover, they also expressed their desire to remain together in order to give their best in future tournaments, proving how hard they worked on their synergy.
Luminosity VALORANT, including staff, are now restricted free agents.
Keeping our roster AND staff together is incredibly important to us, and vital to the long term success of this team.

Welcome to riot franchising. Even if you have one of the best teams in valorant, careers will be killed and dreams to play competitively will end as big orgs leave a limited system that only favors the few. Talent becomes incredibly top heavy as t2 scene loses passion.

damn this is fucked man, best of luck in the future. you guys are fucking insane

damn what happened to luminosity man

Anyone saying this is a bad decision doesn't truly understand the business of esports. A top roster costs a lot of money. Most of the time orgs bleed through money to field a roster.

I feel bad for the players bc having an org can make things easier for talents, just exploding their potential without worrying abt equipment, payment, etc.
Btw It should be awful to play knowing that ending the tourney your out.
