Starfield is a game that’s been 25 years in the making at Bethesda, the studio behind gems like Fallout, Doom, and The Elder Scrolls. So it was obvious to see fans’ excitement about the title in the recently revealed gameplay footage.
In Sunday’s Xbox & Bethesda Game Showcase, Starfield director Todd Howard threw light on the multiple aspects of Starfield. Moreover, he also emphasized a lot on its open-world exploration of the vast space. In fact, according to official information, players will be able to venture into about 1,000 planets of over 100 solar systems in this game.

That sounds exciting, right? Well, some of the gaming enthusiasts passionate about the Xbox exclusive don’t think so.
Fans worried for Starfield over its space exploration comprising of 1,000 planets in an open world
In the recent showcase, the team behind the game revealed tons of new features and details. On the rocky moon of Kreet, players will get to explore and encounter unpredictable, strange wildlife and NPCs. However, this is only one of the many locations in Starfield.
According to director Todd Howard from Bethesda, “It’s not just this planet, it’s all the planets in the system… and not just this system, but over a hundred systems, over 1,000 planets, all open for you to visit.”
Furthermore, he also said it was an incredible journey making this IP and they “Can’t wait for all of you to experience the game.”
While the overall gameplay reveal did seem appealing in the Xbox event, some of the Starfield fans are still not excited. Following the announcement by Howard regarding space exploration, several players raised their concerns on social media.

It looks like not many of them are interested in having the option of going to 1,000 planets in the vast space. Because they think that it’s impossible to create a quality-based environment for so many locations in this open-world title. Hence, Bethesda is only adding quantity over quality, as per some of the users.
Few of the fans were so frustrated with the latest reveal that they mentioned a total disinterest in the game. They wrote:

“Is it impossible to just have 10 very good, hand crafted planets? Procedurally generated planets will get incredibly boring after the 5th one and we all know it. Creating emotions without human input is impossible. Lost all hype for this.”
Is it impossible to just have 10 very good, hand crafted planets ?
Procedurally generated planets will get incredibly boring after the 5th one and we all know it.
Creating emotions without human input is impossible.
Lost all hye for this.— Jihem0 (@Jihem0) June 12, 2022
Yay thousands of almost empty planets. I want planets that are dense with life like earth. Of your coming from another planet and land on earth there is very little uninhabited land, not just 1 or 2 large cities.

Please tell me they're all hand crafted. Procedurally generated is gonna be lifeless and boring af

I’m calling bs on this. No way we are gonna explore 1000 of planets with things to do on them. Unless you make something that tops what no man sky does, which is just a procedurally generated system, I don’t see myself finding things to do anywhere I land. Other than look around.

I would NOT brag about having 1000 planets.
This is more worrying than exciting! pic.twitter.com/EjK6aZrEUn— Fabiano (@FabianoLPeres) June 12, 2022
if 30% of those planets are handcrafted and not ai generated I'll be happy, heck I'll accept 15%.
but I don't think so unfortunately.

1000 planets?…
ok so that means there is literally 0 way they'll be anything other than barren and pointless…
Maybe they're procedurally generated but… hm.
Idk, hope i'm wrong and it's amazing. but it smells a little off— Sreka. (@Sreka_) June 12, 2022
