Nintendo has more than 5000+ games across its several consoles, thus it is not surprising that with time there will be a few games that will be forgotten. And one such game is Glover, which was first released in 1998, but now it is finally getting a re-release on Nintendo Switch.

A game developed over 24 years ago is now resurfacing again on every major console, but with a question alongside itself, is the era of classics returning to fans? At least, it looks like so.

Glover soon releasing on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox

Glover was developed and published in 1998 by Interactive Studios at that time. It was a game based on a magic glove walking, dribbling, and saving the world all by itself. Although it had to face a lot of difficulties due to the change in the industry at that time, it seems that the game is finally getting its true identity back after almost 24 years.

Now the news of the game getting re-released for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One, and Series X|S is making headlines. In a recent trailer announcement by QUByte Interactive, it is now seen that the game will be brought back to the consoles on soon and will feature the original classic from N64 rather than the recent remaster version that was made for PC.

According to the official description of the game, “Glover is a puzzle adventure game consisting of 6 worlds with 30 different levels. You control a charismatic glove that walks on two fingers, dribbles, and plays with a bouncing rubber ball.”

Why is this re-release a hint towards a change in the industry?

The fact that major gaming companies nowadays are thinking of bringing back all the classic games to their recent consoles is somewhat curious. There is a new type of upgrade by the console makers to their consoles that allows players to play all the old games without any porting or trickery.

Such developments can help both consoles and game devs to earn more profits while also providing the treat of nostalgia to fans who crave the classics. Apart from this, it will also help in the making of the sequels of all the forgotten IPs that a company once had and those that went unused.

Similarly, these re-releases will boost the entire gaming industry, helping them grab some extra money for any in-development projects. Moreover, the classic fans are also jubilant with these decisions, making it a win-win scenario. Thus, it is surely a good thing that the trend of re-releases is making its way to the industry.
