As the release date edges closer, fans have received yet another in-depth look at the upcoming Final Fantasy XVI. The latest teaser showcased the majestic world of Valisthea. From white peaks to lush green fields, the world is visually a spectacle. However, fans think, irrespective of its enchanting visuals, it is rather empty.

The last few months have been extremely rewarding for Final Fantasy fans. From gameplay footage to background information from the producer Naoki Yoshida, Squire Enix is doing their best to make the game as transparent as possible. Though it is helping build the hype, it also reveals the weak sides of the game.

Last week, at PAX East, Naoki Yoshida held two panels at the event, one for FF14 and one for FF16. During Yoshida’s presentation, he went over many significant details about the game and unveiled a short cinematic trailer, showcasing the game’s overworld, Valisthea.

The trailer starts with the protagonist Clive and his loyal companion and fan-favorite combat wolf, Torgal walking across a rocky canyon. The roughly two-minute-long trailer showcased the grand sceneries and also classic aspects, such as the Chocobo.

While the trailer was enthralling, it also showed a glaring issue and potential downgrade of the game. Much like Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding, the world looked incredible in terms of visuals, but the wide fields and large mountains looked somewhat empty.

Fans believe the FF16 world will be empty

After watching the trailer, fans shared their thoughts and opinions on the teaser. Many stated that, although the world truly looks astonishing, it also looks desolate. Throughout the trailer, viewers could see only a handful of other NPCs, the fields and the world didn’t even have any wildlife like in Red Dead Redemption 2.

However, this was only a short trailer, the intention of which was to generate hype. Hopefully, when the game is finally released, fans could witness some new additions to create an expansive and immersive world. If not, the emptiness of the scene may very well be an artistic choice.
