This year is turning out to be an exciting one for God of War fans. And pleasant surprises just keep coming their way. Initially, it was the PC release of God of War 2018 that had the community hyped. But with God of War Ragnarok on the horizon, things will only get better from here. However, that is not the only God of War project fans should be on the lookout for.
Twitter user Nibellion recently shared a peculiar article from Deadline. And according to the publication, Kratos could make his silver screen debut soon.

God of War to receive a live-action adaptation soon
Live-action adaptations of existing video game franchises, especially beloved ones, are a tough nut to crack. The annals of history are life with examples like the original Super Mario Bros movie that have left a sour taste in the audience’s mouth. However, the unique setting of God of War lends itself to some compelling storytelling.
Deadline reports that Prime Video is in negotiation to bring the live-action adaptation to life. The TV series would see Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby, creators of The Expanse, at the helm alongside The Wheel of Time executive producer Rafe Judkins.
God of War could join The Last of Us on the list of PlayStation games turned TV series. As HBO has got the development underway on the latter.

Significantly, a cinematic retelling of Kratos’s saga and epic adventures would be a dream come true for franchise veterans. But there’s also room for doubt here. Hollywood doesn’t have the best track record with faithful recreations of established video game IPs.
And the fanbase seems to struggle with similar thoughts as they are divided on the announcement. While some fans wish to see a refreshing retelling of Kratos’s life, others want the video game’s sanctity to remain undisturbed.
The comment section of Nibellion’s tweet is a testament to this. While some fans are excited, others are less enthused.

This needs a HUGE budget and a director specialized in incredible VFX effects and action sequences, mainly because the story is already written or would be written by Santa Monica's team (I hope)

This feels completely pointless, since like Uncharted and TLOU, God of War in general is already very cinematic by video game standards

Lol, live action my ass. They'd probably pick an actor, CG his design because that paint would take no less than 4 hours to apply, hire a VA for them, and everything around them would also be CG. It would be about as live action as as The Lion King remake was.
