YouTuber Ludwig has been known to hold charitable events and subathons dedicated to a wholesome motive. Most importantly, he never hesitates to add variety to his streams and organize engaging events like his recently held Ludwig X Tarik Invitational Tournament. However, his attempt to invest in Pokemon cards resulted in him suffering a loss.
In the past, the community has seen that other YouTubers have also tried investing in Pokemon cards and unfortunately landed themselves in a rather big loss. Recently, an influencer-turned-boxer became a victim of the “Biggest Fraud in the Entire History of Pokemon”.
While some would assume the loss to be in the hundreds or thousands, Paul’s loss amounted to $3.5 million. Unfortunately, the loss was a hefty one and the reason for it became his buying the cards that seemed original but actually were fake.

While the stories of getting scammed come up in the community, a few months back an instance surfaced of a police officer losing a job after trying to scam a local store for Pokemon cards. A scam is nothing that stands as a joke as it leads to a huge loss in earnings and savings and in the end, a loss of trust. Thereby, Ludwig addresses his getting scammed after his attempt to buy the Pokemon cards for profit.
Ludwig faces a scam after purchasing $20,000 worth of Pokemon cards
In his video, showing a box of Pokemon cards, Ludwig intrigued the viewers by stating its worth to be $20,000 and then ending it with a question, “or is it?” Then, he continued, “You see, the value of a sealed Pokemon box is based off what it could be worth. But what if you got every single card inside of that box graded, you sold the cards, would you make money or would you lose it?”

Further, he admitted, “That’s what I’m here to find out. I bought a first edition Pokemon Fossil box for $20,000 and there were 396 cards total inside of it. It took two years to get all these cards graded but I finally have the numbers on how much money I made.”

Ludiwg then put forward the number of the box costing $20,000 and the grading cost to be $6,000 giving a total investment of $26,000. Stating the card’s worth he admitted to having suffered a loss. He said, “How much were the cards worth? $18,589 for a grand total of negative $6,911. Maybe don’t buy Pokemon cards if you’re trying to make money but they look kind of cool.”
Thus, it wasn’t close to a million-dollar loss, it was a loss as admitted by him and one should be prepared for what the consequences could be when undergoing an activity as such. Meanwhile, what games would you be planning to play this year? Do let us know in the comments below.
