With a vast open world and rich narrative, the Switch game brought a new wave of innovation to the legendary franchise. While the story of Breath of the World answered a lot of questions, it also set up a lot. Which many believe will be answered in the upcoming, highly anticipated game, Tears of the Kingdom. Among them, one of the most asked questions is…

Who are the Zonai?

Zonai are an ancient warlike tribe of savages who are now an extinct civilization in BOTW. This tribe is believed to be native to the game’s Faron Region. Very little is known about the Zonai, but the theorists believe they were a very magically powerful warrior tribe who had an understanding of the Triforce.

Zonai represented the tri-force in a more prehistoric image. They used dragons to represent courage, owls to represent wisdom, and boars to represent power. It is apparent that the Zonai worshipped a water Dragon as their deity who bestowed them with unparalleled strength and magical prowess.

But other than some ruins and an armor set, nothing much is known about the Zonai as Breath of the Wild doesn’t indulge the prehistoric tribe in much depth. But the theorist lore-educated community members and fans believe that the Zonai could be a very important aspect of the upcoming Zelda game, and their theories are solidified by potential teasers.

Zonai Evidences in Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom teasers

There are many instances in the latest trailers and teasers of the upcoming game. One of the most prominent of them has to be the green magical runes floating in one of the opening sequences of the first trailer. These runes are believed to be related to the Zonai. Even the mysterious green hand that could be seen helping Link is also expected to belong to a Zonai.

One of the most fascinating aspects of the upcoming game, Link’s new green hand also has the green hue and rune circulating it, which also connects it to the Zonai. Even the architecture shown in the teaser was very much akin to the Zonai ruins in the Breath of The Wild. And finally, one aspect that teases the most is the green runic circle that depicts a dragon in the logo of Tears of the Kingdom.
