And it’s not going to stop anytime soon, in terms of witnessing increasing sales, according to a new report.
Nintendo Switch to end 2022 on a high with Xbox and PlayStation playing as second fiddle
It’s already a known fact that the chip shortage crisis has affected the gaming industry in a highly negative way. Manufacturers have struggled to provide ample quantities of popular consoles. However, despite all the hurdles, Nintendo is still managing to emerge at the top with the Switch in global sales, compared to the close rivals Xbox and PlayStation.

According to the latest report from the video game industry advisor at The NPD Group Mat Piscatella, Nintendo Switch will continue to rule the entirety of this year. Simply put, the handheld console is expected to dominate hardware sales in 2022. On the other hand, prominent devices like the Xbox Series X|S and the PS5 will remain behind it.
Switch is projected to lead 2022 console hardware in units sold, with dollar leadership a too-close-to-call race between Switch, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series.
Xbox Series is projected to be the only console hardware platform to show dollar sales growth compared to 2021.

However, Piscatella also added that the competition is quite tough between all these three products. In terms of dollar sales growth, the Xbox Series X|S is the only hardware line-up expected to shine this year than 2021.
But the latest news is surely a big indication of the supremacy of Nintendo Switch throughout 2022. Plus, there are many exciting titles still left to make their debuts on this ever-growing device. In a way, they will only increase their probabilities to prove the current projections right.
To name a few, there is Splatoon 3 coming out this year alongside Mario+Rabbids Sparks of Hope. Then there is the newer installment in the Pokemon saga in Scarlet and Violet.
