The first Bravely Default game was released in 2012 for the Nintendo 3DS. This 2012 title became one of the best games on the 3DS platform. The game received a lot of praise from gamers and critics. The first game’s success led to the release of two more titles, Bravely Second: End Layer for 3DS and Bravely Default II for Nintendo Switch.

Rumors about a Bravely Default remastered has excited the fandom

Square Enix recently held a celebratory livestream to celebrate Bravely Default’s completing ten years. Further, they presented a high-resolution version of the original game’s opening cutscene at the livestream. Undoubtedly, it felt different and beautiful to see the 10-year-old cutscene with a fresh touch.

Even the producer Tomoya Asano was thrilled to see the new HD intro. He then indirectly hinted at plans for remastering the first Bravely Default. Asano said, “Over the past ten years, our team has grown larger, and our capacity has increased. Looking at the opening movie of [Bravely Default:] Flying Fairy, I feel like announcing a remaster of [Bravely Default:] Flying Fairy would be the best possible thing and something fans would desire. But for now, I’m unfortunately unable to announce anything like that. ‘For now,’ let’s just say.”

Moreover, Nintendo would be shutting down 3DS and Wii by March 27, 2023. So fans would no longer be able to purchase or download content for these platforms. So, remastering the first Bravely Default and porting it to Nintendo Switch is an excellent plan.

A new entry into the series is also possible

Remastering the first Bravely Default is not the only hint at the recent celebratory stream. Asano also hinted at a new entry to the series. The Bravely Default producer shared his team has been planning a new entry since the success of the 2021 installment. However, the development might take three to four years.
