Most categories at the Game Awards honor games which are already out. But this is a unique category that awards a game that is yet to release. The Game Awards honor a title with this award that had been announced and has shown the potential to push the game moving forward.
The Nintendo Switch game, Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, was selected as the most-anticipated game at the Game Awards 2022. However. It wasn’t an easy victory, as it competed against titles like Final Fantasy XVI, Hogwarts Legacy, Resident Evil 4, and Starfield.
Tears of the Kingdom would be a sequel to the previous Legend of Zelda game, Breath of the Wild. It would be an open-world action-adventure like its predecessors. Further, this Nintendo Switch game would hit the shelves on May 12, 2023. So, fans still need to wait over five months to get this game.
