Kanye West has been the face of controversy recently and has been the topic of many debates as well. But what he has done for the music industry is nothing short of legendary for most, despite many saying otherwise. But it was not just the music industry that has been his forte. Ye has also made some specific inputs in the gaming industry as well, though not getting much in return.

Notably, back in 2020, Kanye West had an idea of making a video game that he wanted to work with the Japanese console giant Nintendo. Although it wasn’t his first venture into the gaming industry, it surely was an interesting one.

Kanye West wanted to work with Nintendo

In 2020, during a podcast by Nintendo America’s President Reggie Fils-Aimé clarified that the rapper and owner of Yeezy, Kanye West once approached him for a video game idea. According to him, the rapper was asking for feedback on his idea and even said that he wants to work on a video game with Nintendo.

Reggie Fils-Aimé said, “Part of it was talking about what he was up to. He was experimenting with a piece of video game content. He wanted reactions to it.” Reggie further said, “He comes out and says: ‘I want to work with Nintendo.’”

This was, although, just a pitch to Nintendo, and the company ‘politely declined’ the idea of working together with him, as they claimed to have been occupied with too many other commitments. However, the quality of the pitch by the singer can be up for discussion as well.

Ye showcased his video game at the E3 expo in 2016

This was not the first instance of Kanye West putting his hands on the gaming industry. Back in 2007, he lost his mother Donda West, which was a very low point in his life. Although, nine years later, Kanye West had an idea of making a game where he planned to guide his mother to heaven.

He even launched a trailer for the game titled Only Oneand showcased it at E3 2016. But later, the development team parted ways with the creator and thus the game got put on the shelves.
