Back in 2017, Nintendo shocked the world with their latest entry in the mainline Legend of Zelda games, Breath of the Wild. While previous titles offered linear, semi-open-world gameplay, BoTW completely changed the formula and gave long-time loyal fans an experience like never before.
With a massive open world map, highly interactive environment, and in-depth physics-based mechanics, BoTW was a literal game-changer. In the last six years, the game has garnered much acclaim from critics and fans all over the world. On March 3, 2023, on the sixth launch anniversary of the game, fans shared their fondest and wildest memories of the game.

On the sixth anniversary of the game, the official Nintendo America Twitter page shared an appreciation post, urging the fans to share their moments with the game. “What are your favorite memories of this open-air adventure?” was the caption of the post. The fans quickly poured in to share their shots and captures of their favorite in-game moments.
Many fans shared, one fan said, “I absolutely loved eventide island and having to creatively solve challenges with the tools you have rather than the weapons you built up, that was so fun” praising the ingenuity and the spectacle of the Evetide island that forces the players to cook up creative solutions than to brute force it.
Among the comments, one memory that was almost present for every player was the opening shot of the Great Plateau. At the beginning of the game, after waking up and running out of their resting chambers, the first thing players are greeted with is the fantastical wide view of Hyrule, from the edge of the Great Plateau. However, there were some players who made this moment even more memorable by going a little too far from the edge. “Still remember that feeling the first time jumping off the Great Plateau” said one fan.

So many. Experiencing the Great Plateau for the first time, and stepping out of it for the first time as well. Bumping into Kass across Hyrule, and listening to his songs 🎼pic.twitter.com/xixu8ioZ1J

Running around at night and the music changed. I frantically searched until I saw a freaking dragon cresting over the mountain and my jaw dropped. Chills. pic.twitter.com/7yjrjYDDSw
