TV Asahi is one of the popular stations which functions under the Japanese, All-Nippon News Network. One of its programs revolves around taking inputs from viewers. The station recently compiled a list of the Best Video Games of All Time. Though, Mario, the golden title of Nintendo, did not make the cut for the top 5.

The list is planned after taking about 50,000 votes. Fans will be shocked to know that the list is topped by a title that was released a mere 4 years ago. The list is topped by non-other than The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. While this news is surprising enough, gamers are in for another surprise.
Mario is a title that has stuck around since the 80s. The game has gained massive traction. Even a casual or a person not familiar with the gaming world will be familiar with this iconic character. It could be said that Mario is an icon synonymous with the gaming industry.

Shockingly enough, such a huge title did not manage to make the cut for the Top 5 Best Video Games of All Time. Super Smash Bros Ultimate managed to secure the 7th spot on the list. However, this title is not explicitly a Mario title and is a crossover title. Super Mario Bros. 3 is the only standalone Mario title which featured in the Top 10. It has secured the 10th position on the list.

Players will be surprised to know that the list is not dominated by Japanese games. Minecraft featured at the 20th spot on the list. Furthermore, Apex Legends secured the 30th spot on the list. Japan is interestingly one of the game’s largest markets. However, it is important to know that the list does not objectively reflect the ‘best’ games of all time. This can be attributed primarily because the poll is based only on a Japanese audience.
