The new co-CEO of DC Studios, James Gunn, gave the first look at the new and improved DC Extended Universe. This new universe spans not only movies but also television shows, comics, and video games. This new restructure of the DC Universe will be kicking off with the movie Superman: Legacy.
The new universe not only features big names such as Batman, Superman, and Green Lantern, but also cult heroes such as Booster Gold, Creature Commandos, and The Authority. The fanbase has already been showing a high level of anticipation with this single initial announcement. However, many are asking, will they be able to stand up to their promises?

They named the first phase of the new DCEU, “Gods and Monsters”. In the latest announcement, Gunn and fellow CEO Peter Safran have revealed that the same actors will be playing the characters all across the mediums. This means the artist who plays the heroes on the big screen will voice games and animated series.
In the case of movies with DC characters, that are completely unconnected with the main DCEU continuity will be considered part of the DC’s ‘Elseworlds’. This means Matt Reeves’ Batman and Todd Phillips’ The Joker will get to exist as their own separate entities.

So far, the announcement has revealed plans for television shows based on Creature Commandos, Amanda Waller, and Green lanterns. These shows will be produced by HBO and broadcast on HBO Max. There are also plans for shows like Paradise Lost: a Game of Thrones-like series based on Wonder Woman’s birth land and a show based on Booster Gold.
On the movie side of the announcement, it was confirmed that the new DCEU will be set up by the upcoming Flash Movie and officially kick off with the Superman: Legacy movie. In the upcoming years, there will be a Batman movie with Damian Wayne as Robin. The new era will feature Cult Heroes such as Blue Beetle, The Authority, Swamp Thing, and Supergirl with their own standalone movies.

There haven’t been any new upcoming games announced for the new DCEU as of yet, except for some rumors hinting that the upcoming Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League may have ties with the new Universe.
