2023 is only halfway through and plenty of giant gaming titles have been released already. The remaining months mark the releases of some more highly anticipated titles. Baldur’s Gate 3 has to be among the top contenders for most-anticipated titles. The title is set to release in August on PC and on PlayStation 5 in September. Although there hasn’t been any official confirmation of its release on Xbox, a recent interview with the developers has some possibly disheartening updates.
Larian Studios have finally provided updates on the third edition of the Baldur’s Gate series. There have been constant speculations around the title’s release on Xbox. The game draws inspiration from the classic board game Dungeons & Dragons which is a major reason for its immense popularity. It has been a long wait since the last part came out ten years back. The interview has now confirmed some further delay with the release of Microsoft’s version.
Baldur’s Gate 3 May Not Get An Xbox Release Anytime Soon

The developers have been having issues with the Xbox release for quite some time now. Larian Studio’s struggle reached the community in February. The rumors of Baldur’s Gate 3 being a PlayStation exclusive began to catch fire. The makers later clarified the news about the development of an Xbox release as well.
In the latest interview with IGN, Swen Vincke, the head of Larian Studios explained the root causes of trouble with the title. He expressed how badly the team is wanting an Xbox feature but having issues with split-screen co-op. With the issues being prominent, the developers want to take their time with the game.

He emphasized the creator’s focus to not let the game deviate from the core with compromises just for the sake of an early release on Microsoft’s console. During the interview, he quoted, “This one’s not exclusive. You’re going to be able to play it. It’s just a matter of patience. This is really a question of time.”

The Larian boss hinted at the makers’ ambition to have an Xbox release in October. But with the current status of developments, that seems a highly unlikely possibility. “We’re also not a developer with an infinite amount of resources. We are constrained in the amount of time each platform version is tested. The more permutations you start adding to it on a platform, the more complicated that becomes”, he added.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is a long-anticipated game and with the hype it has around its release, the makers would not like to take a chance. Thus, the community believes it is better for the developers to take their time with fixing the patches and come out with the least compromised product. Fortunately, it is not that long to wait for the PC and PlayStation Fans.
