The world of the Last of Us is a cruel and violent mess. However, the story still manages to deliver a beautiful narrative that has equal amounts of terrifying violence as well as moments of pure heartfelt human emotions. With each episode, the epic narrative introduces a much bigger and more spectacular set piece that shows that, in the end, dead or alive, man is the biggest monster. 

The television show is based on the gaming series of the same name, developed by Naughty Dogs Studios. The original 2013 entry featured some of the best talents in the gaming world, including Troy Baker, who made his appearance in the latest episode of the show.

While Troy was the main character in the game. His performance was one of the key reasons for the game to reach such a height of acclaim. But he was still very unsure if he will have a part in the show. Troy shared he was surprised beyond measure when the showrunners approached him for the role of David.

“It wasn’t something that was guaranteed and it wasn’t something that I was even necessarily seeking. It was just like, ‘If you guys feel that you have a spot for me, then I’d happily do it.’ I would be happy if I’d just been a clicker,” added Troy. According to him, he would have been happy getting literally any role in the show, including the monsters known as clickers.

Performing for the game and then shifting to the show was a very bizarre experience for Troy. “The Sawmill Scene exists in the game to endear David to Ellie and to see this come to life in a completely different way. It’s been a mind trip. That really has been.” added Troy. 

Getting to be much more than a mere clicker, Baker had an “awesome” time in the show. He plays the role of James, who is the right-hand man of David, a leader and a preacher of a cannibalistic cult. In the episode, Troy had a lot of screen time and really got to contribute to the story.
