After Hogwarts Legacy, it seems the gaming community will get to enjoy another video game based on a famous fantasy series. It is none other than The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, which is based on J. R. R. Tolkien’s incredibly popular fantasy novel series. After many delays, the developers recently released a Story Trailer.
Despite this game being based on a classic fantasy novel series that has already been adapted into blockbuster movies, the fans showcased an unexpected reaction to the game. Most of the fans were not impressed by what they saw in a gameplay reveal trailer released around eight months ago. And to their disappointment, the new story trailer has not resulted in anything new.

From what we saw and heard in the story trailer, this game will completely revolve around Gollum. This game will take place possibly between the events of The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings. As a result, much of the content in the game would be stuff that fans haven’t read or seen much. But they will see how Gollum’s journey took him from slavery to living with elves.
Lord of the Ring fans can also anticipate watching Gollum’s flight from Mordor, where he evaded the Mouth of Sauron and the demon-spider Shelob, to the dungeons of Legolas’ father, Elvenking Thranduil. These are undoubtedly some of the countless experiences and encounters that the century-old being has been on.

In terms of gameplay, it is evident that the majority of the game will rely on stealth and parkour. This type of gameplay is ideal for a character like Gollum. Even the novel describes him as someone who prefers to operate in the shadows. But he can also get involved in some action when necessary.
Fans are not liking The Lord of the Rings: Gollum
Fans have disliked the game since the developers released the gameplay trailer; the graphics were unpleasant for the majority of fans. After all, most developers are creating graphical masterpieces while this Gollum game looks like a PlayStation 2 title. The recent story trailer persuaded fans that the gameplay had not improved, which is why a story trailer was released rather than a gameplay one.
Clever, a story trailer so they don't have to show the awful gameplay 🗿 pic.twitter.com/07f3hGuZJR

I'm a super fan of Tolkien universe and a gamer but tbh I'm not excited for this video game… It's not looking good imo. I hope i'm wrong when it is released

But some are looking forward to the game and are intrigued by the visuals Gollum showcased.
This game ain't gonna be the prettiest girl at the ball, and that's totally fine to me.
I'm just glad about how much better it looks from the trailer last year.
That was jarring.
This does not bother me.
I hope to play this when it releases. My hype for the game is back. 🙂— Lu 🌾 (@Kua_Lu) March 9, 2023
I’m really excited about the very PJ–distinct visual style, feels much more quirky and weird. Kinda love it!

My favorite character, an actually interesting and fleshed out story, location not stuck to only Mordor, not exaggerating, my GOTY.
