Webheads are neck deep in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. Though the game is not even a week old, many players have already completed the game! And now, they’re looking forward to more. It is a near-perfect superhero game that swung right to the 90s in Metacritic so clearly it has everything players would look for in a superhero game. Yet, there’s one thing missing.

As expected, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has been firmly dominating the gaming charts since its big launch, having sold over 2.5 million copies in 24 hours! Being argued as the finest “spider-verse” experience, fans cannot stop asking for more of the Insomniac creation. Players noticed the absence of New Game+. And a member of Insomniac Games has now shed some light about it.

James Stevenson, the Community and Marketing Director at Insomniac Games took to X (formerly Twitter) to respond to a fan query. A webhead took the question of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 NG+ directly to the veteran Insomniac employee and fortunately received a reply.

The tweet read, “No – we’re working on an update for those features but they won’t be in Day 1.”

The reports claim Sony would be following a similar pattern to Marvel’s Spider-Man (2018) for the new patch. This means that just like its predecessor, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will be releasing its first NG+ anywhere around a month after its big launch. While the tweet suggests fans will have to wait for a few days for the new patch to enjoy NG+, the Ultimate Difficulty Mode might indeed keep them busy for a while.

The spidey-fanatics who have completed the 28-30 hour-long game (for completionists) have revealed an interesting feature that gets unlocked upon the first completion. An Ultimate Difficulty Mode unlocks, offering players to go through the full story with the highest level of difficulty, which surely means tougher fights, more aggressive enemies and lower resistance to damage. Players will need to be on top of their dodging and parrying game. However, players also have the option of changing the difficulty in between.

Although there’s no NG+ available for the sequel currently, fans are certain the patch isn’t too far away. Also, the tweet by Stevenson all but confirms it. NG+ is, after all, a staple in such games and a means to offer replay value. The Batman Arkham games have it. The previous Spider-Man games in the series have it too. So it’s just a matter of time. And while fans wait for NG+, they’ll surely be hoping for news about a potential DLC as well.
