Months ago, Microsoft and Bethesda held a very informative showcase of the upcoming space exploration sim Starfield. The game looked as beautiful as anyone could have imagined; it truly looked like a next-gen game. But that presentation was followed by a smaller trailer revealing that Bethesda had decided to choose AMD as their hardware partner.

These kinds of things hurt a product in different ways. Fans sometimes even skip games that favor one kind of hardware on PC. Nevertheless, AMD and Bethesda’s partnership happened, no matter how unsavory fans found it. After the game’s launch, players started noticing some small issues.

Texture pop-ins, janky movement, and broken HDR mode are only some of the issues players are facing. Then comes the inability to hit 60 fps in the most powerful of builds. People over at the Starfield subreddit cannot stop complaining about it. Many of them are even connecting these issues to Bethesda’s decision to partner with AMD.

Some even claim that the game was deliberately designed in such a way that Nvidia GPUs perform worse than AMD’s. Which is as ridiculous as it sounds. A company might develop a badly optimized game, but they would not go around deliberately ruining the performance of their title.

One must understand that it’s a Bethesda game, and these kinds of issues have been in the DNA of their titles. This game’s performance would get better over time. Till then, let’s say even the PC version has a 30-fps cap.

Fans are not very happy about the PC port, and they are showing it!

Fans over at this game’s subreddit have been talking about its bad performance. They have also been listing the problems they have faced so far and how disappointed they are at the game that people were calling “Bethesda’s most polished title yet”.

User Apprehensive_Thing40 listed his PC’s specs that were somewhat above Starfield’s requirements and claimed the game is failing to hit the desired frame rate.
