Shuntaro Furukawa on Nintendo Switch’s future
As per Shuntaro Furukawa (Nintendo President), Nintendo Switch is still only midway through its lifespan. In an exclusive interview with a Japanese publication, Nikkei, Nintendo President, revealed some details about the future of Switch.
Here’s what the Nintendo boss has to say about the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2:
“The hardware and software development teams are thinking about what kind of new entertainment proposals they can make while communicating closely in the same building. In order to make one piece of hardware, we have to make various preparations for several years, so the reality is that we are doing it without stopping. The deciding factor for final commercialization is ‘can we create a new experience?‘”
As it turns out, Nintendo wants to offer something new with Switch 2. It definitely seems like whatever comes after Switch will inevitably have something more than just better graphics.

However, nothing has been officially confirmed yet. While it’s pretty interesting to hear that the Japanese company plans to support the widely successful Switch for roughly 10 years, it doesn’t really mean that a new and better console won’t come out until 5 years.
With this in mind, we can say that Nintendo Switch 2 might get an official release window at some point in the coming few years, but it’s definitely far away. Fans may have to have a little longer to get their hands on the successor of the ultimate Nintendo Switch.
