Even though Nintendo has been a constant competitor in the gaming industry, the modernization of video games has changed many things. And many think that now this modernization is affecting the gaming giant in many ways. But is it really the case, or is it just a misunderstanding of a generation-long tradition?

Is Nintendo facing issues transitioning into mainstream video games?

In the 1880s, when Nintendo first started making playing cards, they didn’t know that they will be making video games worth billions. Thus, the Japanese video game giant had some terrific characters and video game titles under them. Despite all this, fans still think that they have lost the touch that they used to have in the 1980s era.

Although, as a matter of fact, fans are somehow right in this case, mostly because Nintendo has been very cautious about their video game development. They have been invariant with their representability in the industry, making them lag behind Xbox and PlayStation. As the ideologies behind the company are somewhat old-school, the console giant finds it hard to transition from the 2D and platformer style to immersive and high-octane gaming mechanics.

But still, these ideologies made the company what it is today. This is because, as time goes by, these old-school ideas might become a trend or a unique experience, completely different from what the mainstream media is constantly trying to make. Thus, making Nintendo an exotic experience in itself, that can be quite distinctive.

What to expect from the Gaming Behemoth?

With several new games such as the Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, Bayonetta 3, etc., coming out soon, it seems as if the billion-dollar company is back at business. And to prove this, they are also producing a new Super Mario Bros. movie alongside animation film pioneers Illumination.

Nintendo switch online is also seeing a lot of changes in recent months, making it clear that the Japanese gaming behemoth is constantly evolving but at its own speed. This is a good sign since changing haphazardly might affect the slow but steady transition that the company had a positive outcome of before.
