The video game world is filled with rare coincidences but sometimes they end up revealing more than what meets the eye. XDefiant’s Open Beta period starts on June 21st and will last until June 23rd. On the other hand, the free trial of Modern Warfare II will be available from June 22nd to June 26th. Does that mean Activision is making an attempt to attract as many players as possible to try its ongoing installment while keeping them away from Ubisoft’s first-person shooter?

Previously, XDefiant was only available via the closed tests but now everyone will be able to access it ahead of launch. If more people get intrigued by its gameplay experience, they will surely end up playing it extensively when it officially arrives in late summer.

Maybe that’s the exact reason why CoD makers are trying their best to prevent such a situation from arising. XDefiant’s developing team has been listening to the community feedback while making necessary changes in the last few months.

They are still doing the same while keeping the competitive aspect of this free-to-play game intact. In a recent blog, it was mentioned that the open session will offer proper server stability and a new Net Code. The latter will prevent bad hit registrations along with enabling reduced latency. Receiving mostly positive reactions from most gaming lovers is a huge reason why the CoD killer might actually end up giving Activision a tough challenge in the long run.

The publisher knows how to keep the players hooked but it has failed to do so in the last two years. The poor quality of games has made a majority of the fans annoyed and extremely frustrated. As a result, they are desperately looking for alternatives now. XDefiant could be that one title that can give them a satisfying feeling of a shooter game. Seems like the open session is bound to do that.
