Bethesda Softworks is again hitting the headlines and this time for the exclusivity of game titles. This happened after Microsoft‘s CEO confirms shipping the future version of Call of Duty on the consoles developed by its rival organizations. In a court trial with FTC, Phil Spencer confirmed his wishes to give Call of Duty access to the PlayStation 5 players after they made $60 million with the game’s developer Activision Blizzard.

However, Spencer’s confirmation of Call of Duty’s availability after the takeover of Activision Blizzard raised concerns among Bethesda Softworks. Known for games like Starfield, Bethesda’s recent concern about Call of Duty’s availability on PlayStation 5 brought a new spark of controversy in the gaming industry.

Microsoft’s recent announcement regarding Call of Duty after the acquisition of Activision Blizzard raised questions. It sparked doubts about their policy of title exclusivity for the games. The marketing executive of Bethesda, Pete Hines emailed Todd Howard questioning why Microsoft chose to retain Call of Duty in the given scenario. He referred to the fact that Microsoft kept Starfield as an Xbox exclusive for the players.

Hines’s email referred to the public allegations that Starfield might have to face after Microsoft’s alternative decision about Call of Duty. He confirmed that this took the opportunity of PlayStation users to experience Starfield. Whereas, Call of Duty fans got their chance to play it even after Microsoft took over its developer company, Activision Blizzard.

Fans’ reaction to the email

The news of Bethesda CEO writing an email to Microsoft asking about the exclusiveness of game titles went viral within minutes. This flooded the social media platforms as one Call of Duty fan took to Twitter to present a draft of the email to the followers. Since then, his comment thread had shown promising reviews from gamers on this matter.

It was seen that most of the Call of Duty players approved of Xbox’s decision on Call of Duty.

However, some gamers were also seen relishing this feud between Bethesda and Microsoft over the title’s exclusiveness.

Some of the gamers commented stating  big multiplayer games like Call of Duty need a global audience. This is for the game to successfully in reach more players. Then he mentioned that this proposal differs for certain single-player games. In single-player games,  developers can afford to limit access to certain consoles.

Some gamers believed that Bethesda can’t change Microsoft’s decision and that gamers don’t need to bother as nothing will change.
