Over the past few weeks, we’ve learned more details about the sequel. Spider-Man 2 is expected to have a more seamless fast travel system, a map that includes Brooklyn and Queens, the return of Martin Li and more. Now, Insomniac has shed light on how long the game may take for players to complete and the prospects look promising. A Reddit post has shared some potential information about Spider-Man 2, based on an interview by one of the senior Directors at Insomniac Games.

From what we gather, Spider-Man 2 will have a play-time, roughly similar to its predecessor. In a recent interview, Ryan Smith, a senior Insomniac official, revealed the possible play-time for the upcoming Spider-Man game. “Spider-Man 2 is in the same ball-park as the first game in terms of overall play time,” said Smith. Spider-Man’s main story can be completed in more or less than 17 hours. If what Smith says is true, we expect Spider-Man 2 to be somewhere under 20 hours as well, in that case.
However, it’s important to note, this could be for players who only take a crack at the main story, and not much of the side missions. Considering the total completion time for the previous game, including side missions and activities, and everything there is to do, there could be up to 35 hours of gameplay for completionists.
A familiar open-world philosophy to guide the upcoming game
The main attraction of Spider-Man was how the devs kept a relatively small open-world setting. Ditching expansive maps, it was possible to create a storyline that captivated players. It seems like something similar will also be the guiding hand for Spider-Man 2.

Smith thinks a massive open-world setting isn’t always something that works for every game. “We don’t want this to be an 80-100 hour game, that’s not where we want to be. We want to tell amazing stories, the best we can,” Smith mentions.

Players can expect about as much gameplay as the complete edition of the previous game. And players will surely have plenty of time to explore the expanded map and do all missions.
