For the past few days, news about Rockstar developing a remastered version of Grand Theft Auto IV and Red Dead Redemption I has been going around. A Rockstar insider had leaked this information as he claimed that his franchise was working on them. Sadly, there was no update from the company, ultimately putting a stop to all rumors.

Apart from this, fans connected the dots and formed theories about Rockstar releasing the GTA Trilogy as a substitute. They felt that the franchise had done injustice to their most loved titles as they scraped the idea of a remaster. But now, fresh news has come in proving all allegations wrong.

Remastered versions of classic games are the only hope for hardcore gamers as it allows them to learn about the era. After all, they provide the exact synopsis of how things looked for the favorite gaming titles in olden times. But that does not make it entirely necessary for franchisees to work on them, as there are much better projects to cater to. Such has been the case with Rockstar, who scraped off the remastered versions of GTA IV and Red Dead Redemption One.

As a result, fans thought that the franchise had done it to work on GTA Trilogy. Although, this was never the case as Rockstar Games had different plans. A popular Rockstar informant revealed this information in his recent Twitter post. Here’s what he said:
“Remasters of IV & RDR1 weren’t in production, simply in the ideas phase and remained there for years. Rockstar’s plan was to start with the Trilogy and follow up with IV & RDR1. The decision to greenlight more depended on the initial reception of the Trilogy.”

Apart from this, Tez2 also attached a photo of a past Kotaku article. The piece clearly mentioned Rockstar planning to add new ports to Red Dead Redemption. So, before getting newer versions of these highly appreciated titles, we believe that the franchise might focus on the ones currently running.
