Star Wars Battlefront 3 is now a dead project and fans are upset about it. Tom Henderson, an industry expert, announced that Star Wars Battlefront 3 is not going to happen. But it’s not like there won’t be any Star Wars, it’s just that it won’t be Battlefront 3.
He also mentioned the reason behind Battlefront 3 being canceled, it’s just because of the high licensing costs. This makes sense because production companies do charge a very high licensing cost for using the rights of their assets.

Not all bad news
So as confirmed by Tom, the licensing fee was so high that the game had to make 20% extra sales just to cover the licensing cost. In this case, it would be very difficult to even hit the break-even point, and it would be impossible to earn as much profit as the devs would like to. This is exactly why EA canceled this project.

Some lead developers, who were an important part of the Battlefront franchise, have left DICE. Hence, it further decreases the chance of the happening of Battlefront 3. Following are the key people who left the DICE a few months back:
- Dennis Brävall- Creative director of Battlefront II
- Christian Johannese- Core gameplay designer of Battlefront franchise
- Guillaume Mroz- Lead hero designer of Battlefront franchise
Tom also shared that EA is working on two Star Wars games, but it’s likely that both of them will be single-player titles and will have a story mode. So it’s not all bad news.
