Industry Insider Ignites Prospects of a Persona Fighting Game Being in Development

Sega Atlus just announced the existence of Persona 3 Reload. It is a remake of one of the darkest games in the series and will be available for all consoles and PC. The game is scheduled to be launched sometime in early 2024.

They also announced a game called Persona 5 Tactica, a tactical role-playing game set in the world of Persona 5. This title would launch later this year. Now, an insider claims there’s yet another game in development, a game of a very different sort.

Is Atlus working on a fighting game based on the Persona universe?

Atlus has hit a home run with its Persona series of games. These games seem to have convinced many people how good JRPGs are, and rightfully so. Every single game in this long-running series has earned well-deserved praise and success. From the very first Persona game to the latest entry, Persona 5 Royal, these games have earned high praise from gamers as well as critics.

One thing that not everyone is aware of is that the Persona series goes beyond these mainline games. Where the mainline games in the series focus on social simulation as well as dungeon crawling as their main mechanics, there are some that go in different directions.

One such game was Persona Q. This game combined Etrian Odyssey and Persona 4 and 3. It was a very straightforward game with dungeon crawling, and it launched on the Nintendo 3DS. The best part was that it was successful enough to justify a sequel too. Then came the Persona dancing games; these are some rhythm games based in the Persona universe, each focusing on a different bunch of games in the series.

And this is why, when an insider claims that a new Persona game is in development, people believe them. And when this person says this game might be a fighting game, this too sounds somewhat believable. Now, one imagines how this game would work, though there are chances they are developing a game that will be like Smash Bros. for the Persona series. The greatest of all collections where characters from all the games fight each other for whatever reason.

If that is the case, then this rumored game would be something of a revelation indeed. It would be glorious to see all these characters punching each other in the face. This game might even be in line with one of those Persona Arena games, that are known for putting a fighting game twist in this series.
