God of War Ragnarok has been a huge success, to say the least. The PlayStation 5 juggernaut from Santa Monica Studio has swayed players across the globe already, within days of an anticipated launch.
However, the streak of good news for God of War Ragnarok recently faced a speed breaker after a major revelation, coming from none other than the music producer on the PS5 exclusive. She has revealed an unpleasant update regarding the game that won’t make a good impression on the makers of the newly released title.

God of War Ragnarok music producer reveals she was not credited for her work in the game
In case anyone is not aware, Jessica Mao is the music producer on 2022’s successful PS5 release from Santa Monica Studio. She recently shared a long Twitter thread, mentioning her favorite sequences in the sequel for which she made arrangements. This includes the Freya chase scene alongside the boss fight with Thor later in the game.

i'm so happy to see so many folks enjoying God of War Ragnarök! i worked on the editing/arrangement/implementation of the Freya chase scene and Thor boss fight music. you can hear to a bit of each scene's music in this video!

…in ways that i felt worked best musically. the stem i'm proudest of is one where i removed all instruments and left just the percussion and vocals. you can hear it in this clip (under all the combat sounds lol). sometimes less is more 😄 pic.twitter.com/pnaVIBeABa

However, she then revealed that her work wasn’t credited upon the launch of God of War Ragnarok. It implies that her name isn’t mentioned in the credits for the game after it ends.
unfortunately, my name is not in the credits, and apparently it can't be added in a patch update. i was told that to be credited, my contribution to the game must hit some "minimum criteria," hence my tweet from Monday. still not sure what this criteria could be…

This was “incredibly disappointing and discouraging” for her, as she didn’t understand why this situation occurred. She also wrote that when she asked why her name wasn’t there in the credits, she was told that her contribution didn’t meet the “minimum criteria” to be credited. Knowing this, she was unsure as to what kind of criteria is actually needed in the first place.
this was incredibly disappointing and discouraging for me to learn, and i'd hate for anyone else to go through it.
game devs, please credit EVERYONE who participates in the development of a game. it only makes sense.
have a beautiful day 💙

Furthermore, Jessica Mao also noted that even a new update can’t add her name in the credits for God of War Ragnarok. This is actually disheartening to see, since a lot of people have worked on this amazing project. And when someone gets excluded due to any reason, it feels sad, to say the least.
Hopefully, the developing team will address this issue as soon as possible. Maybe they will find a way to credit Jessica as the music producer on the PlayStation 5 exclusive.
