Elden Ring is the prime Souls game for all the Soulsborne fans out there nowadays. And like any other Soulsborne game, developer From Software has decided to expand on this game by adding an expansive new DLC.
While the developers work on the DLC for this game, which is named “Shadow of the Erdtree,” fans are eagerly awaiting it as well. But it appears they have found a cruel way of passing time while they wait for this DLC.

Melina, as any Elden Ring fan would know, is a crucial non-playable character. She guides the player throughout the game, giving them every basic tool necessary to be the Lord.
She also has an underlying story that is told through dialogue and item descriptions, so it makes one wonder why players are so hostile towards her. While burning, inflicting rot on people, and backstabbing them are part of the fun in this game, killing a harmless character such as Melina is somewhat cruel too. What wrong has she done to them?
It is not even easy. Melina is not always available to be just burned by them; she has to be called from a site of grace. What the players do is burn the ground first, then call her. When she appears on the burnt ground, she burns herself and dies.
But the reason they are burning her is pretty unusual. Long-time players would know she can be summoned to boss fights. And if she dies during a boss fight, she will leave behind a small Erdtree that continuously heals the player.
It’s a weird boon, but it works well enough. And fans on Reddit have found out that she leaves a similar tree behind when she dies due to this fire set by them. Just for the sake of making this tree appear, they are killing her again and again.
