Recently there was an internet rumor going around that claimed that the renowned American food chain ‘Hooters’ is closing because of the modern preferences of Millennials. This hoax was such widespread that many started questioning if it was actually real or not. Including the eccentric billionaire Elon Musk. 

Hooters is a fast-food chain that could only exist in America because of its ‘Theme’. The main selling points of these ‘family friendly’ restaurants are the cheap food and the attractive servers in ‘revealing’ outfits. Recently there were rumors that the chain is actually rebranding itself because the new generation is not that into this kind of business model.

The rebranding rumors of the fast-food chain became wilder as many started blaming the millennials for not being‌ into “Bo*bs”. The news became so wildly spread many started believing it. Complex reported the news saying, “Hooters is closing locations, restrategizing because millennials aren’t that into boobs.

Even big names were confused. The eccentric billionaire and the newly appointed CEO of Twitter, Elon Musk, was confused if this was actually real or not. “Can’t tell if satire or realtweeted Musk. The comments and the replies to the tweet were cornering the millennials with their harsh criticism and derogatory opinions, without knowing the truth.

The top Only Fans Model and one of the most successful Female Twitch Streamer, Amouranth also tweeted, “I’m never gonna financially recover from this”. Thinking if Millennials started losing interest in breasts, her lively hood may get severely affected.

But is it true? 

According to knowyourmeme, this is a meme that people are taking too seriously. They described the origin of the meme. According to their report, “The story, as it originally appeared in 2017, used P*rnhub research to claim that Millennial audiences were less enthused about breasts, suggesting this correlates Hooters’ recent struggles. In both Complex and Business Insider’s articles, the writers seem to jokingly say Hooters’ business model is struggling because Millennials are not into boobs, but they don’t go into the myriad other reasons Hooters could struggle to attract new customers, such as many people not wanting to eat dinner with an er*ction.”
