But according to the Nintendo insider website ‘Nintendolife’ the old poster with the date of holiday 2022, is still up for display. Thus, they think that it is just a mistake on the production team on their part. But if the news is believed to be true, then the film might actually be still a work in progress and might come out next year in 2023.

Fans reacting to the news of Mario’s film getting delayed

The news of the film getting delayed brought a wave of upset fans to the comments section of Nintendolife’s tweet. Mostly, the fans couldn’t believe that the film got delayed again.

While other fans hypothesized that the makers are actually polishing the film or might be waiting to release it in the holidays for an extra grab of money. Although speculation, both the reasons sound plausible seeing the type of films fans have been enjoying lately in theatres.

Notably, the film is produced by legendary game developer Shigeru Miyamoto and CEO of Illumination Chris Meledandri. Thus fans think that the perfectionists will surely take their time to make the film as much as they can. Also, the film will feature MCU’s Star-Lord actor Chris Pratt as Mario himself, while Jack Black will voice Mario’s archnemesis, Bowser.

It is also to be noted that earlier this year Miyamoto hinted that the film would be released in April 2023. He said, “This is Miyamoto. After consulting with Chris-san, my partner at Illumination on the Super Mario Bros. film, we decided to move the global release to Spring 2023–April 28 in Japan and April 7 in North America. My deepest apologies but I promise it will be well worth the wait.”

The legacy of Nintendo films in the world of cinema

As the Japanese video game giant Nintendo is a creator of popular characters, it would have been a waste if fans couldn’t enjoy some of their favorites on the silver screen. With films like Pokemon Detective Pikachu and Gekijōban Doubutsu no Mori (Animal Crossing: The Movie) it was also proven that fans love films based on their beloved video-game characters.
