Fans are certain about Microsoft’s conscious attempt to stand against its greatest rival Sony. After some big releases like Starfield, Xbox has earned a great global fandom. But what about Japan? Well, apart from Sony, Xbox also competes against Nintendo, Japan’s other favorite video game publishing company. In June 2020, Famitsu claimed that Xbox and SEGA might collaborate on a new Xbox device for conquering Japan.

And now the FTC vs. Microsoft trial revealed delicious information about that. Japan’s dedicated and large gamer population makes its market one of the ideal hotspots for game publishers. Jim Ryan’s priority of PS’s response in Japan is quite proof of that. Microsoft’s trial documents suggested that this company might receive its Japan strategy from Famitsu’s popular leak. But how?

Apart from a refreshed Xbox X series console in 2024, Microsoft’s documents revealed that this company is finally thinking of a strategic card to earn Japan’s heart. And for that, Xbox decided that the rumored idea to collaborate with Japan’s AAA title developers, SEGA would be an exciting opportunity to penetrate Japan’s households.

For that, Xbox believed bringing an exclusive Xbox device with SEGA’s logo just for Japan’s market could be nothing less than a jackpot for the company. Crazy right? Not just that, Xbox Captain, Phil Spencer in an email, credited this leak as a source for their upcoming plan.
